Desay SV Automotive Europe on course for strong growth
Desay SV Automotive develops and supplies various antenna, electronics and software solutions for the automotive industry.
"With the development of autonomous vehicles, the demand for such technologies is increasing rapidly. We will therefore grow strongly in the coming years," says Henrik Lindén.
Desay SV Automotive is a new member of the Scandinavian Automotive Supplier Association (FKG) and has its European headquarters in Weimar, Germany. The company specializes in antenna and automotive electronics solutions and Henrik Lindén is the managing director of the Swedish subsidiary and responsible for sales in Scandinavia.
"We are currently 130 people in Europe but expect to grow rapidly and double the number of employees soon. We have our own research, development and production in Weimar which guarantees the highest quality and reliability "Made in Germany". An important asset for the European market."
The parent company Desay SV Automotive is a leading provider of infotainment and driver assistance solutions and based in China with around 5,000 employees. 2019 saw the acquisition of ATTB, a leading provider of antenna system solutions in Germany.
"Our mother company in China is expanding globally and therefore making significant investments in Europe", says Henrik Lindén.
The business is divided into four divisions: Smart Antenna, Smart Cabin, Smart Drive and Smart Service.
"In the field of vehicle antennas, we supply vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket with antennas for cars, trucks, motor homes, buses and commercial vehicles. Our systems and solutions range from standard antennas to complex multifunctional smart antennas that are optimally matched to the respective vehicle."
Rapid technological development has increased the need for vehicle antennas for various services. Not only radio and TV reception via AM/FM, DAB and DVB-T play an important role today, but also GNSS signals for navigation and positioning as well as mobile communications such as 4G and 5G.
"The automotive industry is in the midst of major technology shifts and autonomous vehicles, for example, require 5G and highly accurate positioning. We are at the forefront of technology in terms of autonomous driving, and we work closely with customers to develop solutions. Systems need to work reliably, safely and without interruption at all times and in all places."
Smart cabin covers the software inside the car, display, communication and infotainment systems, climate control, wireless charging of mobile phones and other driver support solutions.
Smart Drive is all about driving safely and avoiding accidents. A large number of sensors enable 360° detection of pedestrians and obstacles in the vicinity of the vehicle. In addition, cameras are being used (currently 4-5 per vehicle). The trend is toward more and more cameras and sensors. The interaction of electronics and software is essential for modern driver assistance systems (ADAS). The company is also working on V2X solutions (real-time traffic information, communication with other vehicles, communication with traffic lights, and much more).
"There are many systems that need to work together safely. For this purpose, a large test arena for autonomous vehicles will soon be completed at our headquarters in China."
Smart Service offers wireless software update (OTA), telematics services and intelligent processing of large amounts of data.
Henrik Lindén has worked in the automotive industry for over 20 years and was previously CEO of a Swedish automotive supplier who is also a member of FKG.
"I appreciate FKG's work in the areas of policy and industry lobbying, as well as the quality of reports and up-to-date information provided to members. Since we want to grow in Sweden, it is also important for us to network and find other players in the automotive industry for collaboration."
